Questions parents ask

What families ask before choosing a Chinese university

Honest answers — including what Study House cannot promise.

Do I need to speak Chinese?

For most undergraduate degrees, yes. Chinese-taught programs ask for HSK 4 (HIT) or HSK 5 (USTC). English-taught undergraduate programs exist but are limited — for example Civil and Chemical Engineering at HIT, or MBBS and Economics at Fudan — and some need a minimum number of students to start.

What will studying in China really cost per year?

At the universities we could verify, tuition is roughly RMB 20,000–30,000 a year for regular undergraduate programs (more for medicine and special programs), plus about RMB 1,000–2,000 a month for living costs at Wuhan University’s estimate. The Chinese Government Scholarship can cover tuition and dormitory fees and pay a monthly allowance, but places are competitive.

Is it safe? What should we check?

Study House cannot give a safety rating for a city or campus. Check each shortlisted university’s student-support and safety information, follow your government’s travel advice, and ask us to help you compare cities on cost and student support.

What if the visa is refused?

Ask the embassy or visa center what was missing. In many cases you can apply again with corrected documents, and fees are generally not refunded. Your university’s international office can also confirm that your admission letter and JW form are correct. We can review the situation with you, but the embassy decides.

Do you guarantee admission or a visa?

No. Study House cannot guarantee admission or a visa. Universities decide admission and the government decides visas. What we do is help you choose realistic universities, prepare a complete application and avoid mistakes that can be avoided.
